OrthoclaseThese floater crystals are found in a weathered porphyritic granodiorite dike in West Maroon Pass. This sharp, textbook monoclinic prism shows the typical hazelnut brown color that is most commonly associated with this material. A beautiful example of Feldspar from Colorado. Specimen# CO712B173

and only a handful of worthwhile pieces survive in collections today
or a suite of Bolivian specimens
but there are a few minor imperfections here there that keep it from being a complete "floater"

the richer colored areas are a textbook example of the “Blood Vessel Opal” from this locality where the iron oxide inclusions have formed thin lines near the surface to give it an almost organic appearance
