Matchstick EarringsOctober 2015 Sterling silver, cubic zirconia These earrings were born out of my experimentation with closely grouped flush settings. I specifically chose square silver stock that was narrower than the stones I was setting in it, so that sparkle of the 3mm wide CZs would completely dominate the bottom portion of the earrings. They're post mounted and hang perfectly off the ears, and when the light hits them they really do have the fire of a lit match.

but with the stones centered to each other

creating a subtle ombré effect

The textured background is actually an abstract visualization of a picture of baby's breath (common in many flower arrangements but not actually present in the source flora)

I do have a decent supply of semi-precious stone beads and occasionally look at them to inspire myself to think along tracks I don't usually follow
