American Cottage Life by Thomas Upham, 1852Sanborn & Carter, Portland, ME 1852 Third edition Very attractive, mid 19th century poetry collection by Thomas Upham on the theme of cottage life & farming. Red cloth coverboards with gilt decorations. Several black and white engravings. Condition is good with some soiling & insect damage at the spine.

The base and the cross are two pieces and you can adjust the cross by swiveling it this way or that

particularly at the corners

The figural base is made of spelter with a removable glass shade in the shape of a blossom

without flaws

Condition is excellent with just some light wear to either end of the spine & the corners

Freestanding

The entire piece measures about 16” x 13” and is in excellent condition

make-do frame consisting of a simple sheet of glass surrounded by cloth remnants and fitted to hang

Excellent Victorian hand shaped spill vase made of parian ware

The textblock is clean & tight
