190cm Bonna 2400 Wood Cross-Country Skis - 1970s - from NORWAY!
Description
190cm Bonna 2400 Wood Cross-Country Skis - 1970s - from NORWAY!Bonna skis were some of the most popular wood skis sold in America during the 1960s and 1970s. The 1800 was the all purpose ski that is still a favorite of enthusiasts today. The 2000 was a slightly lighter version, and this model, the 2400, was a wide, off track ski. The gold lettering features a mid century font that puts a time stamp on these skis. This pair was rescued from sure destruction by a benevolent ski lover who reached out to the wood ski
Ski bindings historically had involved a cable that wrapped around the heel of the boot
So these bindings were probably made by Dovre for sale in Carroll Reed stores in the Northeastern US
The bases are in great shape and have a new coat of pine tar burned in
here they are
So we ended up with narrower bindings
a "leveä"/"bred"/wide
and apparently in that location there was a fluid trade in skis between the two countries
These skis may not have their beautiful original graphics
We don't know much Austro-German
Size 36/37 - US Women's 6
Almost as wide as narrow alpine skis
Base: birch/hickory
