Bass Sports "EIE" Vintage Cross-Country Ski Bindings - Made in Norway - RAREThis is an oddity in the history of Nordic binding design. The EIE system, invented by Norwegian Dr. Nils Eie, required a special purpose boot with a toe plate that would snap into the binding. This eliminated the need for a clamp to hold the toe down, and saved weight.
