CIE Bulk Cement Wagon - Orange - Pack 3Introduced in seven batches between 1964 and 1972, a total of 150 of these two axle wagons were built by Cras Iompair ireann (CI) to convey bulk loads of cement from Irish Cements plants at Drogheda in County Louth, Castlemungret in County Limerick and Platin in County Meath to distribution points throughout the CI Irish Rail and Northern Ireland Railways networks. Despite being introduced at different stages, the fleet carried numbers in an unbroken
with 1100 workers losing their jobs
with large sound capsules for best possible sound (DCC Sound models only)
Acquired by the LNER in July 1946 and classified as J94
Our model has an impressive 825g of weight to allow the powerful 5-pole motor and all-wheel drive to haul the very heaviest of trains

now fully finished in its 1980s paint scheme complete with Highland ‘stag’ logo and its classic An Comunn Gaidhealach name (after the organisation that promotes the use of Scottish Gaelic) that it wore between October 1986 and February 1991
