Vivianite on matrixIsolated crystals of Vivianite on matrix from Tomokoni are notably hard to find, especially larger undamaged crystals like the one on this specimen. A razor sharp, highly lustrous prism of Vivianite is lying in a semi vug shaped indentation of the red altered sandstone matrix. The natural shape of the host rock is what allowed such a good sized crystal to form and remain protected during growth. Normally a crystal like this would have grown against

along with a greenish-yellow hue

it's a textbook monoclinic "chisel"-shape and rarely seen from anywhere in Myanmar

This piece was collected in 2000

and the Fluorites were often typically only an association species to the beautiful Aquas
