ILE DE FRANCE: 1927 - Cabin Class deck plan w/ interiors from 1950sFrench Line: The ILE DE FRANCE returned to service in 1949 after an extensive post war rebuild. Besides the elimination of the third funnel, among the changes was a spruced up Cabin Class. This eight page fold out deck plan from the mid 1950s shows what would have been a very nice way to travel. Cabin Class had exclusive use of one of the nicest rooms onboard, the wonderful two deck high Smoking Room with its swooping stairway and big mural. The

On D Deck one could enjoy a cabin de luxe with a verandah while your fellow voyagers on E Deck made due with Bibby cabins that had long necks reaching towards the light of a porthole
