200cm Karhu "Latu" Wood Cross-Country Skis - Finland - Early 1970s
Description
200cm Karhu "Latu" Wood Cross-Country Skis - Finland - Early 1970sFrom the land of the bear comes this lovely pair of early 1970s light touring track ("latu") skis. Helsinki based Karhu (Finnish for "bear") equipped skiers ranging from the Finnish army to World Champions such as Harri Kirvesniemi. Over the years these skis have been touched up and or repaired, and the top edges have worn in a couple of places due to the inevitable criss crossing that happens when regular people cross country ski. But the logos are
and they've barely been touched
But if you know your way with needle in yarn
this pair is littered with pockets - plenty to stuff your Kvikk Lunsj in
Serial numbers 1 and 225
or lovingly personalized by the owner
Wood shaft is in almost pristine condition
This particular model is from the early 1960s
Finland stuck with 4-pin 75mm bindings until the switch over to 50mm 3-pin and Adidas 38mm occurred (mid 70s) so we are pleased to be able to offer "modern" style bindings with vintage look
purple for at freezing (0/32)
Width: 50mm at ski center
BINDING NOTES: These skis come with a ham-fisted pair of non-functional 3 pin bindings
which is really only good for one application unless you clean it
